Dilled Yogurt Cheese
This cheese is very close to the consistency of cream cheese, but has fewer calories. You can use a coeur a la creme mold to make an attractive heart-shaped cheese. Because these molds have fewer drainage holes than a strainer, refregerate the shaped cheese for at least 24 hours, draining off the liquid (whey) occasionly. Serve with crackers and vegetable slices.
Ingredients
- 4 cups plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh (or 1 Tbsp dried dill weed)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Instructions
1
Line 6-inch strainer with paper coffee filter or double thickness cheesecloth. Place strainer over bowl. Mix all ingredients. Pour into strainer. cover strainer and bowl. Refrigerate at least 12 hours.
2
Unmold onto plate. Garnish with freshly ground pepper and additional dill weed if desired.
